Earle Brown: December 1952 (2:58, 1993 / 2006)

This is a realization of the score illustrated above, the original of which was composed by Earle Brown (1926-2002). In a note for the composition, Brown specifies that the piece is "For one or more instruments and/or sound-producing media [and] may be performed in any direction ... from any of the four rotational positions ... [While] It is primarily intended that ... no ... preliminary defining of the events ... take place [, such] is not prohibited ...."

The sounds here, which are quite systematically defined, are made by FM synthesis, recovered from an earlier version for Native Instruments' FM7 synthesizer and merged with the graphics in Apple's iMovie.
